Tammy RVT

Tamara Kesenheimer - Registered Veterinary Technologist

Tammy grew upon a mixed farm on the edge of the Great Sand Hills of Southwestern Saskatchewan.  In 1994, she received her Animal Health Technology diploma from SIAST Kelsey Campus (now Saskatchewan Polytechnic) in Saskatoon. After working at a small animal practice for many years in Edmonton, she and her husband moved to Cold Lake to be closer to family. Tammy joined Cold Lake Veterinary Clinic a month after it opened back in 2011 and has been there to watch the clinic and its team grow and change over the years. She and her husband are now slowly easing into the “empty nest” life with their dog and cats.

Sara RVT

Sara Livingston - Registered Veterinary Technologist

Certified Companion Animal Rehabilitation Therapist (CCAT)

Sara graduated from the Animal Health Technology program in Vermilon and started here at the Cold Lake Veterinary Clinic in 2012. She has taken a great passion in orthopedics, helping along side Dr. Macleod in the orthopedic surgeries and is a certified rehab therapist with Dr. Mueller to help patients get back on their furry paws. She grew up in the Lakeland area and now lives outside of Cold Lake on her farm with her husband, two kids, cattle and chickens.

Janessa Jefferson - Registered Veterinary Technologist

Janessa graduated from the Animal Health Technology program from Lakeland College in 2015. After settling in at the Cold Lake Veterinary Clinic, she took a interest in behavioural sciences and became a Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner (KPA CTP). She spends a lot of her time with her business Pawsitive Peaks Training and Behaviour, as well as being an advocate for a Fear Free approach in our practice and her training.

Briana RVT

Briana Grant - Registered Veterinary Technologist

Briana started as a student in the summer of 2015. She started full time with us in 2018 after she graduated from the Animal Health Technology program at Olds College in 2017. She is an east-coast girl by heart but has followed her passion for animals into working as a veterinary technician full time. She has a shepherd mix named Moose, and a tri-pod named Ducky and they keep her very busy in her spare time. She also loves spending time with family and friends. She has Fear Free training that is used in our day to day appointments to help the anxiety and stress of animals coming into the clinic. Briana has completed her certification in Animal Hospice and Palliative Care.

Kacie RVT

Kacie Duckett - Registered Veterinary Technologist

Kacie has been working with us since 2019 after graduating from the Animal Health Technology program at Lakeland College. With her training with Fear Free Pets, she is dedicated to alleviating the fear and anxiety patients can experience at the vet clinic. Kacie grew up on a cattle farm just outside of Cold Lake and currently resides here with her partner and shepherd cross, Roo. In her free time, she enjoys as much as the outdoors as she can - dirt biking, fishing, hunting, skating, snowboarding and taking her dog for long walks.

Meghan RVT

Meghan Visser - Registered Veterinary Technologist

Meghan grew up in Ottawa, Ontario and received her Veterinary Technician diploma in 2017 from Georgian College. Meghan and her husband moved to Cold Lake in 2018 and purchased an acreage outside of town. She now spends most of her time raising chickens, gardening and hiking. We were lucky to have her join our team in 2021.

Lauren RVT

Lauren Kelly - Registered Veterinary Technologist

Lauren graduated from the Animal Health Technology program from Lakeland College in 2017. She grew up in Cold Lake and now lives on a small acreage outside of Bonnyville where I enjoy hunting, hiking and helping my husband with our small orchard we’ve been tending to the last few years. She has been active in doing our laser therapy in clinic and has training in Fear Free.

Dakota Vandergaag - Registered Veterinary Technologist

Dakota attended Lakeland College in 2016 for the Veterinary Medical Assistant (VMA) program and fell in love with veterinary medicine. Shortly after, returned to Lakeland College to join the Animal Health Technology program, which she graduated from in 2019. Dakota was a great addition to our team in 2022. She is a Fear Free Certified Professional and enjoys everything veterinary medicine has to offer, especially cytologies! She lives in the Lakeland area with her husband and a full house of 2 dogs, Harper and Hazel, and her cats, Otis and Olivia. In her spare time she enjoys spending time wither her furbabies, gardening, playing sports and video games.

Jennifer VMA

Jennifer Pepin - Veterinary Medical Assistant

Jennifer is the newest member of our Cold Lake Vet team. She received her Animal Health Care Assistant certification from CDI college in June of 2023 after having done her practicum with us. Her love for animals extends beyond the clinic,  as she enjoys spending time on her hobby farm in the Lakeland area with her horses, goats, cats, dogs, chickens and two active boys.

Shelley Holuk - Receptionist

Shelley grew up in farm country in northern Saskatchewan and has called Alberta home for 20 years. She is happily married, has two sons and two daughters in law, plus their furry family members. Shelley had many years in human medicine and now enjoys the challenge of the veterinary field. Her favourite pastimes are family shenanigans, camping, fishing, boating and side-by-side rides with friends and family.
